Prenatal genetic testing plays a role in detecting a genetic disorder or birth defect in the fetus, and helps in the management of pregnancy to improve the outcome of the newborn. Postnatal genetic testing helps to confirm the diagnosis, forecast the prognosis, and formulate the management of a child with genetic disorder.

Updates in Gynaecological Oncology will provide participants with information about advances in the fields of endometrial and ovarian precancer and cancer with video demonstrations of surgical techniques. Additionally, we will also provide an overview of colposcopy focusing on indications, technique and management of common abnormalities. The session concludes with an interactive panel discussion and we look forward to your active participation in this CME.

Anal sphincter injury following labour is the most common cause of anal incontinence in women, that can severely diminish the quality of life and lead to considerable physical and psychological impact. Overt sphincter injury can occur in 1–3% of women undergoing vaginal birth. Prompt recognition and adequate primary repair are paramount to good continence. In this workshop, we aim to cover all aspects of diagnosis and management of  3rd and 4th degree tears.

Management of GDM aims at maintaining normoglycemia at all times of day and is important for an optimal pregnancy outcome. The most effective treatment is a  multi-dimensional approach that includes both lifestyle modifications (medical nutritional therapy and daily physical exercise) and pharmacological treatment. The  multi-disciplinary health professionals involved are Nutritionist, Physiotherapist, Endocrinologist  along with the Obstetrician.

The detection of adnexal masses during pregnancy is increasing in the last 20 years due to the widespread use of ultrasound, the technical advancement of such equipment, and the delay of childbearing to an older age. The questions that arise when an adnexal mass is encountered pertain to origin of the mass, its nature, the need for intervention and the potential complications.  In a pregnant women, there are both mother and fetus to consider and difficult decisions may need to be made which could benefit one but be potentially harmful to the other. The purpose of this webinar is to discuss the evidence-based approach to an adnexal mass in pregnancy and address the frequently asked questions based on our experience at Fernandez.  We will focus on the diagnostic and management challenges posed by these masses with case scenarios to illustrate the same.

               

              

Instrumental Vaginal Delivery is accomplished with the aid of instruments like vacuum or forceps. This is an alternative to caesarean section when indicated, and thus reduces the caesarean section rate.
